Muslim friendly cafe in Shibuya

More of Shibuya: Authentic Halal Malay Cuisine and Muslim-Friendly Cafe

Posted on October 12, 2022November 3, 2022 by Soylatte

Hello again from Shibuya! Though we don’t really like the crowd of Shibuya, believe it or not: it’s difficult to NOT go there at all. I mean, while it’s a perfect hotspot for tourists and young people — hence the unbelievable crowd and noise –, there are just so many places that are hard to miss.

This time, we would like to cover another, less hustling side of Shibuya that is worth visiting when you’re in town. Taking the East Exit of Shibuya Station towards Miyamasu-zaka (宮益坂) Street, we’re going to bring you for a walk, all the way to Omotesando Station.

Authentic Halal Malaysian Food at Malay Asian Cuisine Shibuya, Tokyo

Address: 2 Chome-9-9 Shibuya, Shibuya City, Tokyo 150-0002 (Google Maps)

Located within walking distance to Shibuya Station, Malay Asian Cuisine is a Malaysian-owned halal restaurant that offers various kinds of Malaysia’s top dishes. Here you can find the classics Malaysian Nasi Lemak, Nasi Ayam, Roti Cannai with Curry, and Mee Laksa. And on top of that, they also serve many other popular Malaysian street food. For instance, Char Kway Teow, Satay, Rojak, and Otak-otak.

During lunch time, they usually do a set lunch for only JPY 1,000. The set lunch already includes a main dish (changes daily) and free-flow salad, soup, soft-drink and dessert.

Why you should visit Malay Asian Cuisine:

  • Delicious and authentic Malaysian food — obviously!
  • Friendly and accommodating staff
  • Great location, spacious for group dining

You can access the Grand Menu and Lunch Menu here! Besides Shibuya, Malay Asian Cuisine is also operating in Yokohama.

Enjoy Tea Time at Aoyama Flower Market Tea House

Address: 5 Chome-4-41 Minamiaoyama, Minato City, Tokyo 107-0062 (Google Maps)

After a big lunch and a lot of window shopping along Aoyamadori Street, let’s head down to Aoyama Flower Market Tea House!

Located in the same complex of Taro Okamoto Memorial Museum, Aoyama Flower Market Tea House is a popular tea house designed to be blended together with the flower shop of the same name. With its greenhouse-like interior, Aoyama Flower Market Tea House becomes another hidden gem in the crowded city of Shibuya.

Upon entering, the staff will guide you through a maze of fresh and lovely flowers. At the end of the flower shop, there is a sliding door for the tea house.

Full of earthy and aromatic fragrance, the overall ambience of the tea house is very warm and cozy — perfect to awaken all of your senses gently. In Aoyama Flower Market Tea House, the recommended item from the menu would be its homemade french toast. They also have a yoghurt bowl if you look for a lighter meal. (To muslim friends: be careful when ordering other desserts containing jelly, in case they use gelatin)

Of course, it’s illegal to skip the seasonal tea blend! There you can find two kinds of tea: the fresh herb tea, and the dried blend tea. The dried blend tea is usually a mix of fruits, flowers, and a tea base (black or green, or earl grey).

Why you should visit Aoyama Flower Market Tea House:

  • Dreamy and warm atmosphere!
  • Fun tea time experience

Although, the place can be too crowded on weekends.
