A new addition to the halal trope, Tomoji is a yakiniku restaurant that specializes in Kaiseki dining. Since the beginning of March 2023, the restaurant started offering Halal Wagyu course menu to attract more international visitors.

Located in the upscale area of Hibiya, Tomoji offers us an elevated meal experience with high quality seasonal ingredients — starting from JPY 8000. Though they only began to serve halal, the menu provides plenty ways to enjoy Wagyu Beef throughout the course.

Asides from the mandatory Yakiniku, the JPY 12,000 course menu will treat you to Wagyu sashimi, Nigiri Sushi, and Beef Yukhoe with Uni and Ikura (Salmon Roe). They also have Halal Wagyu Sukiyaki and Shabu-Shabu to complement your meal, along with seasonal vegetable dishes and dessert to finish.

(786) Omori Yakiniku

Another newly opened Halal restaurant, this time in the southern Tokyo! (786) Omori Yakiniku is a muslim-owned Yakiniku restaurant that just started its business last May 2023. The restaurant is only 5 minutes walk from JR Omori Station, opposite to Chisui Halal Lanzhou Beef Ramen Shop (also operated by the same owner).

In (786) Omori Yakiniku, they offer Shiretoko Beef, which is a kind of Wagyu originated from Hokkaido. Here you can order various cuts of beef separately, including Beef tongue and intestines. Or when in doubt, you can get them in set! During lunch time, you can get a Teishoku meal consisting of rice, one main of your choice, soup, and side vegetables for JPY 900 to 1300.

As it’s owned by a muslim, all selections on the menu is halal. They also don’t serve alcohol. Moreover, there is a prayer space you can use at the establishment.

Wagyu Yakiniku Panga

We can’t talk about Halal Wagyu in Tokyo without mentioning Panga. Yakiniku Panga is a well-known, established Halal Wagyu restaurant in Taito city, Tokyo.

Panga has a selection of premium A5 Satsuma Wagyu cuts. It’s the highest rank of Wagyu, and very flavorful thanks to its rich marbling. If you’re planning to visit for dinner, make sure to make reserve a seat by phone call or online.

They also have a lunch Teishoku set, ranging from JPY 1000 to 6000. It’s definitely on the expensive side compared to (786) Omori, but overall worth the money!

Kiwamiya Parco Shibuya

Looking for a quick Halal Wagyu fix in downtown Tokyo? Head over to Kiwamiya in the B1 Floor of Parco Shibuya!

Kiwamiya is a hamburg specialist from Fukuoka, Kyushu. Here you can try Halal Black Wagyu hamburg, teppanyaki style. The halal set allows you to choose either a 150 or 300 grams of hamburg, and comes with free flow rice, soup, and salad. This set menu will cost you JPY 1408 for regular (150g) set and JPY 2618 for the double set.

Since the shop is very popular, expect a long waiting time! But don’t worry. Once you’re in the queue, it’s will be a fast service. The staff will write down your order (ask for an English menu for Halal ones, or check here) and direct you to your seats.

There is also a prayer space free to access on the 5F Parco Shibuya.

Kiwamiya Tokyo Station

Another branch of Kiwamiya, this time is inside Tokyo Station! Similar to the Parco Shibuya Branch, here you can have a specialty of Fukuoka Prefecture, Halal Black Wagyu Hamburg. The setting is pretty much similar — counter sittings with a hot iron plate ready for you.

Initially, the chef will lightly grill your hamburg before distributing them to your plate. You can then break them in pieces and grill them to your liking.

This store is located right next to the Yaesu North Exit ticket gate of the Tokaido/Sanyo Shinkansen.

Issho Ueno

Another recommended place that serves halal Wagyu in Tokyo is Issho Ueno. Although being a Japanese Izakaya, Issho Ueno started offering Halal options to cater muslim customers since 2020.

Located within walking distance from JR Ueno Station, Issho Ueno has a number of halal dishes to choose from besides Wagyu Beef. The signature dish is Motsunabe, a special stew dish made from beef tripe and other fresh ingredients from Fukuoka Prefecture. They also have a good variety of seafood dishes, served raw (Sashimi) or cooked.

Luxe Burger

Still Wagyu, but make it Halal Burger! Luxe Burgers is a halal burger joint in central Tokyo that offers us another way to enjoy Wagyu Beef. The Wagyu Beef patty is prepared Teppan style, medium rare to keep its juice and flavors.

Besides Wagyu Beef, there are Australian Beef Steak, New Zealand Lamb, Chicken and Vegetarian patty options. With the vast variety of toppings and cheeses, you can freely customize your burgers to your liking.

On top of the burgers, Luxe Burgers also serves sandwiches, hot dogs, steaks, and even lamb chops.

Soleil Hibiya

Located in the latest hotspot of Hibiya, Hibiya Okuroji Shopping Complex, Soleil is a casual restaurant that is proud of its concept of diversity and inclusion. Here at Soleil, they make sure everyone, including muslims and vegetarians/vegans, has options to choose from the menu.

Of course, they also have Halal Wagyu on the list! During lunchtime, there are three kinds of Wagyu dishes available: Wagyu Beef Burger, Wagyu Beef Steak, and Wagyu Beef Hamburg. In addition to that, everything else is guaranteed halal so you can order with confidence. (Though, some of the main dishes can be hit-or-miss…)
